CONGRATULATORMESSAGE

For UN Vesak Day 2019

It is a great honor to be invited for the 16th United Nations Day of Vesak in Vietnam! As the snow is slowly disappearing from the mountains in Czech Republic, our temple is finishing a month-long meditation retreat. We have a full Dharma room of people looking in to what am I?” This is the same question which made Prince Siddhartha leave his home and practice meditation, until one day he became the Buddha and discovered that we all have the same Buddha nature. How wonderful! Now, almost 2600 years later, people all around the world are still practicing and benefiting from the Dharma he taught all those years ago. When we look at the news we may feel a bit hopeless, that maybe our practice makes no difference in this world. What can we do? As natural as those thoughts are, just remember how much impact this one mans practice has had, and remember that we should never give up our Bodhisattva vow! Its up to us to live our lives clearly moment by moment, and inspire others to do so as well, so we can all see our true nature, become buddhas and save all sentient beings from suffering. Gatherings such as this one can help us to share our experiences and ideas from all around the world and to acquire better skillful means of how to share Dharma for the benefit of this world. Once more, thank you to the United Nations and the National Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha for organizing this event!
