CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
For UN Vesak Day 2019
From the Institute of Buddhist Diffusion of Chile, in South America, we celebrate this excellent opportunity to celebrate the 16th United Nations Day of Vesak (UNDV) to be held in Vietnam, organized by the National Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam (NVBS), in the Tam Chuc, International Center of Buddhist Conventions, in the Province of Ha Nam, from May 12 to 14, 2019.
Please receive our most sincere thoughts of better wishes for the happy realization of such a magnificent event, which brings us together around the example and teachings of the Lord Buddha, and is a fertile opportunity to meet friends from the most distant places in the world.
The Buddhist community in Chile, in the context of Western Christian culture, is small, but growing, since many people sympathize with Buddhist thought, free of dogmas and in line with current research on the mind and brain and that it provides us with many practical resources to understand the challenges of daily life and our inner nature, in a world that is advancing rapidly towards transcendental changes of global scope.
We believe that the main theme “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies” will allow us to deepen our own responsibilities from different perspectives and also to effectively develop cooperation between our communities and institutions around the world.
May all who work for this excellent international event be inspired by the wisdom and unconditional love shown by the Lord Buddha and may all the participants in this meeting be immersed in His example, which remains as valid today as it was when His feet touched this world.
Prof. Humberto Barahona
