For UN Vesak Day 2019

I am highly pleased and honored to express my heartfelt congratulation on the auspicious occasion of United Nations Day of Vesak (Buddha Purnima) celebration, to be held in Ha Nam Province, Vietnam, on May 12-14, 2019.

The Vesak Day which commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha, is the most important and sacred day for the Buddhists of all over the world. Buddhas teachings is not only for Buddhists, but also for all mankinds, because his teachings stretched happiness out to all world beings.

The Buddhas teaching in short is - Sabbapapassa akaranam kusalassaupasampda, Sacittapariyodapanam etam Buddhanasasanam.’’
Abstention from all evil, doing of good, purification of ones thought – this is the doctrine of the Buddhas. It is a common message for all human beings irrespective of caste, creed and religion, who follow and practice the rules of the Buddhas teachings, he would be a perfect Buddhist and also a perfect human being. So Buddhism is the religion of humanity.

The United Nations had considered that the Buddha had make boundless contribution to people ever two and a  half  thousand years ago, specially the teaching of the Buddha emphasizing on love. loving-kindness and no-violence. Thats way the United Nations has declared the Vesak Day ‘ The United Nations Day’ bringing a great bliss to all Buddhists of the world.

I consider that the 16th United Nation Day of Vesak Celebrations and Buddhist Conference 2019 as such a significant event with worlds Buddhists and their wisdom all assembled to discuss along

with the theme of ‘Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies.

I firmly believe that the Buddhists Scholars and leaders, who will participate the conference of Vesak Day celebration in Vietnam, will play a fruitful role for a sustainable society in the world.
