CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
For UN Vesak Day 2019
Warmest greetings from the Kingdom of Bhutan.
United Nations Day of Vesak marks the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha and hence, it is very important and most sacred occasion for millions of Buddhist around the world.
I would like to applaud and congratulate the National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (NVBS) and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for being able to host this international conference of very paramount significance for third time.
I also congratulate Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Brahmapundit, President for International Council for Day of Vesak, Most Ven. Dr. Thich Thien Nhon, President for United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration and all other people involved for making this auspicious event a grand success every year.
When the world is going through unprecedented period of excessive human greed for material expansion at the cost of future generation, the theme for UNDV 2019 as “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibility for Sustainable Societies” is coined at no better time than today. I hope this conference presents perfect opportunity to reflect and realize on what is best in our collective wisdom of Buddhist ideology and spread it throughout the world for the benefit of all sentient beings.
May the United Nations Day of Vesak be an occasion and reason to gather all Buddhist people to nurture and spread peace, harmony and compassion around the globe. May the Buddhist philosophy of

Best wishes to participants attending the conference and all Buddhist people throughout the world.
Her Majesty The Queen Mother of Bhutan,
